Hastings’ Work for Chelan and Douglas Counties

• Working to protect the Wenatchee Valley Medical Center and its clinics from efforts in Congress to ban doctor-owned hospitals.

• Pressed the VA to bring a new veterans clinic to Wenatchee and introduced legislation to name the clinic after local veteran Bud Link.

• Ensuring federal commitment to local schools heavily impacted by federal land ownership thru Secure Rural Schools law ($2.7 million a year for Chelan County schools).

• Authored legislation passed by the House of Representatives to allow continued fish stocking in the North Cascades National Park.

• Authored legislation to allow reconstruction of the Stehekin Valley Road.

• Helped secure funds to repair washed out roads in National Forests and North Cascades.

• Authored legislation to enable Douglas County PUD to provide greater local control over land within the Wells Project. 

• Secured funds for the George Sellar Bridge, the Pangborn Airport, Coulee Community Hospital, the Wenatchee Agriculture Research Service, water improvements for Coulee Dam and Grand Coulee.

• Worked with Chelan PUD to finalize historic Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP).
